![]() ![]() Reading Surah al-Mulk followed by the translation at night before we sleep will also help us to keep in mind that there is a Hereafter and Allah did not create us to reside in this world eternally. “Blessed is He in whose hand is dominion, and He is over all things competent.” (Qur’an 67:1) As we cement in our minds and hearts that Allah has power over all things, we will rely and depend on Him sincerely. Through doing so, we will be reminding ourselves of the power and might of Allah, relieving us of any feelings of despair and worry. We should also aim to read the translation of the Surah. In the Holy Qur’an it is a Surah which, whoever recites it every night has done very well.” (Al-Nasai) At the time of the Messenger of Allah (SAW) we used to call it al-maani’ah (that which protects). We read in a hadith that reading Surah al-Mulk will protect us: “It was narrated that Abdullah Ibn Masud said: Whoever reads Tabaarak allaahi bi yadihi’l-mulk every night, Allah will protect him from the torment of the grave. We will feel calmer and less stressed about our daily lives. Reading the Surah will also help us to find peace and relax before going to sleep. Doing so will help us to realign our focus in life, remind us of our purpose, and remember the Hereafter regularly. We should all aim to develop the habit of reading Surah al-Mulk before we go to sleep at night. ![]()
